On Friday, March 19th the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat play for the first time this season. Both clubs played and lost on Wednesday.
The Pacers hold the all-time record between the clubs with 67 wins in 117 meetings. Last season, the teams played four times with Miami taking three of the four contests.
It’s been a tough slog for the Pacers who’ve lost 13 of their last 18 matches including their most recent defeat at the hands of the Nets.

Brooklyn was playing without Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving and while the Pacers built a 15-point lead (40-25) in the first quarter but couldn’t hold off the Nets.
It was the first time Caris LeVert played his old club since being including as part of a four-team deal. He produced a line of 19 points, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals but struggled with his shot (6 of 16).
The player he was traded for was the difference in the match as James Harden posted a massive 40 points, 15 assists,10 rebound triple-double, and simply took over the game.
Domantas Sabonis also reached that benchmark with 18 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists as well as four steals, and a block.
Malcolm Brogdon led the Pacers scoring with 24 points while Doug McDermott and TJ McConnell each scored 12 points.
Jeremy Lamb missed the game with a sore knee and is day-to-day while the team says TJ Warren is still months away from returning.
While Jimmy Butler was out dealing with COVID-19 the Heat fell to 11th but with his return and other core players returning from injury they immediately made a run up the ladder to their current position of fourth.
Miami has won 11 of their last 13 contests and continued to win during the four games Bam Adebayo was out injured. Memphis ended their most recent five-game win streak.
In the loss, Butler led the way again with 24 points and seven rebounds while Adebayo registered a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds plus six assists.
Duncan Robinson (13) and Tyler Herro (11) were the other double-figure contributors. The Heat made news this week by trading for Trevor Ariza from the Thunder although the 3 and D wing didn’t join the Thunder.
In return, Meyers Leonard was sent back along with a 2017 second-round pick (to be conveyed by Houston).
The belief is Ariza will fill the void left by Jae Crowder’s exit and also provide Pat Riley with options as Ariza’s contract is less than Andre Iguodala who could be used via a trade to further bolster the Heat’s depth.
Mo Harkless (illness) and Iguodala (hip) missed the last game. Avery Bradley missed his 20th game with a calf injury. All three are listed as day-to-day
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Heat are 7-3 in the teams last 10 meetings.
- The Heat are 6-4 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these clubs
- The teams are 3-7 in the over/under in their last 10 meetings.

Intriguing matchups exist in this match particularly up front but with the home-court advantage and LeVert still finding his rhythm, the Heat should return to the win column.
